Yes, that subject line was actually the title of the Etsy newsletter today, and I admit that it stopped me in my tracks because of some things that have been going on this week, and it just seemed appropriate for today's newsletter!
|
When I was in the corporate world, I was often told that I was too nice, that if I wanted to get ahead, I needed to be more 'treacherous' and cut-throat, more competitive, and TBH - I am VERY capable of doing that. I can definitely be that person - but I decided very on that was not who I WANTED to be.
|
Just because you CAN do something does not mean that you SHOULD.
I truly did not like the person that I knew I had to be, to be successful in that environment, so I left. LOL and no, the decision was not quite that simple, but I did it.
So who will I be in 2022?
That's pretty simple to answer: Me.
|
For better or worse, I will continue to be me, and try to be the best version that I can of me.
I work too many hours. I give too much away. I volunteer too easily. I re-arrange my schedule too often to go to my grandsons' ball games. I wake up happy most mornings just because I wake up. I love business and so I probably work at it more than I should, but that is me.
|
And all in all, as we wrap up 2021, and I look at where I was this time last year, and where I am today...I am ok with continuing to just be me in 2022 ;-)
BUT...that doesn't mean that I don't have some big plans for me....
