In spite of the dire warnings, I kept getting from the Weather Service all day yesterday claiming that everything from lightning storms to tornadoes was about to hit - NOTHING!! Nope, not one drop of rain, barely a whisper of wind - in spite of the trepidation brought on by the warnings....there were no dire consequences.
There are many things about running a business that is often very similar: they produce an enormous amount of fear and anxiety that are totally out of proportion to reality.

One of these things is the seemingly simple act of sending out an email or newsletter to our lists. This is probably the #1 concern that I hear voiced time and time again.
|
And it is a major concern because it causes so much stress to many content creators and internet marketers, that they are literally frozen into inaction.
The concerns voiced generally fall into one of these two areas:
I don't really have anything to say.

What if they don't like me?
|
The first one is something that is actually pretty common - if you do a newsletter for any length of time - you will eventually find yourself staring at a blank screen....and staring ...and staring...and well, you get my point!
But here is a great exercise to find something to write about:
Every morning, spend about 15 minutes and scan 5 newsletters that you received recently, and quickly make note of anything that grabs your attention and then write down what your initial response was: Did you agree with the writer's comments or disagree? Why?
Don't spend too much time on this part - it's important to NOT overthink your first reaction because you do not want to get caught up in the 'paralysis of analysis' - you want to write!
The next step is simple: Write! Open with something like: "I read a great article today with a concept I really liked...". then proceed to share the basic concept - but then explain WHY you liked it in your own words.

This process becomes easier with time and practice...but I promise you that you will ALWAYS have something to say with this technique!
