Thank you so much to everyone that sent such lovely and heartfelt birthday greetings! I have not been able to respond to all yet because my email has been down much of the last two days, I assume while my hosting company moved us back to the correct VPS server.
Interestingly, the sites were all running like molasses after we were live again, and I found out later through another customer of theirs that it was likely because instead of being placed back on the VPS that we had before - we were all running on shared hosting accounts. I assume that my email issues were due to being moved back and forth and did not even bother to open a support ticket. Today, things are sort of ok, there are emails and transactions that are MIA, but again, it could have been so much worse. Hopefully, for everyone's sake, the worst of this episode is behind us.

But the truth is that there are going to be problems when you run a business, online or offline - STUFF HAPPENS!! LOL - this is something that vert few MMO gurus bother to tell you!
If you dropship long enough - sooner or later, one of your vendors will disappear with your money. If you create low-content workbooks - sooner or later, a software update will screw up your product...if you use a third-party platform to host your store or your email list, sooner or later, your store will go down or maybe even go away...or your site could get hacked, or you could have a server melt-down like we did.

But you can and WILL survive 99.99% of the problems that you will run
into by following ONE SIMPLE RULE:
ALWAYS COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS
|
Customers are people just like you and I - only better because they support us by buying what we sell or create! We must NEVER forget that!
Services and products are easy to replace. It might be a nuisance and a PITA to move to a new host, or to find a new VA or a new planner designer - but it is a LOT easier than replacing lost customers and clients!
|
So, if you have a problem in your business, big or small, major diaster or small bump in the road - let your customers know. Be transparent and communicate with them. You may still lose a few, but I can promise you that the result will be much better than NOT reaching out.
|
The worst thing you can do is pretend your customers are mushrooms - keep them in the dark and feed them horseshit. Instead, share the truth, do it often and treat them with respect. It's amazing how well that can work ;-)
