So today is a busy day for us - Bob's surgery is Monday so I am making sure the house is 'walker ready' and prepping for the Father's Day cookout here tomorrow. It's not really that big of a crowd but it's been a while since I have done all of this and I am out of practice! Have to think twice about things that used to be second nature, so everything is taking longer than it should...Thankfully, rain this am forced tomorrow to be pushed back so the guys can play golf in the morning, so I have a few hours tomorrow to get things finished up as well!

And the same is true in business - the more you practice certain things - like creating a funnel or a landing page, the easier the task becomes, right? The problem, though, is that these are usually things that you don't do every week, much less every day, and so every time you do these tasks is like doing it for the first time all over again - and it takes more time than it should! And it gets frustrating, so often we give up and walk away from something that we really, really need to get done.
My solution is to write the steps down as I go through the process - usually on paper - editing and changing the process flow as I go through the task live. I edit because sometimes as you are working your way through the task, you find a better way to do it. Once I get the task done, I usually type it up, and save one copy to the relevant folder and print one out, because, yes, I actually have a hard-copy notebook, too. There are simply times when I find it easier to have the printout to work from rather than splitting the screen on the computer!

Some of these are in checklist formats but sometimes I like to use more of a 'mindmap' format, because it is more visual, and I can add more content to each step without losing the flow from one step to the next. Which format I use just depends on what makes more sense to me, and which one I will be more comfortable using.

And that my friends, is the key: How you save your process flow is not important. I have a friend who saves everything to Evernote, another creates protected pages on his website so he always knows where everything is - the ONLY thing that matters is that you save your notes in a format and location that you will USE!!!
I am big on creating systems and processes - and it's allowed me to almost triple my income in the past year. Don't try to systematize everything at once - it's too overwhelming - but sit down and think about the tasks that take 'too long' or are the most daunting, and start there! Once you have these documented - the rest become easy-peasy!!

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day, with the family coming over and then the final prep around the house for Bob's surgery and of course, making sure he eats nothing beforehand (Put down that Doughnut!!!). But he is in excellent health and his doctors are great. The biggest difference is that I have always been right there, waiting, and this time, not happening, and that does feel weird. But I am glad that the protocols are still strict - better safe than sorry!
