The good news today is that it is now 48F outside!! YEA!! The bad news is that it is colder than that INSIDE! Nope, the furnace is not fixed yet, even though they were here and spent the afternoon banging and clanging. They are supposedly returning today with the parts needed...but they are also 30 minutes late and no call so....who knows?
|
All I know is that I really, really want to stop wearing a hoodie and gloves in my office....but it IS a good excuse to go overboard on the hot chocolate...and yes, that IS a whipped cream mustache ;-)
|

And about that Lead Generation software...
|
It seems that over the last few months, there has been a major push to launch about 40 gazillion different variations of Lead Generation software. They are all pretty much the same in that they scrape the email addresses and contact details from a business's website, then they send stupid mass email blasts to the businesses, which are rarely relevant to the actual business.

I get asked to promote these products every week - and every week, I say no, and here is why:

Today I received two from the same 'company' - one from the 'sales rep' and a second an hour later from the 'owner' of the company.
|
The gist of the emails are always the same: they want to 'help' me generate more leads for my business and get me 1 or 2 new clients per month...for an upfront fee of course...
|
Obviously, they have never visited my website, or they would realize that 'clients' are not what I need...I need traffic and customers...and 2 new customers a month? I can do that on my own, thank you very much.
So I always make them the same offer: If they believe in the quality of their leads so much - why not become an affiliate and make $$ for the LIFE of the customer instead of a one-time fee for a 'lead'? Pay for performance rather than pay for lead??
LOL I am quite certain that if they are truly capable of generating high-quality leads for ANY business, like they always claim, that they would make a great deal more in the long run as an affiliate - but no one has ever taken me up on the offer!

In fact - no one has ever even responded!!
|
The sad part of this scenario is that these people have been sold a make-money scheme that is flawed from the ground up, and they have spent good money on software and systems that are little more than 'sp*mming for dollars'.
So....I will continue to turn down these promotion 'opportunities' and I will never, ever use the systems. List building is not always easy but this is one short-cut that I just won't be using!
