After a beautiful fall that felt more like spring than our spring did...we woke up to almost 2 inches of snow on the ground Saturday morning! Temps plummeted from the mid-70s F to the mid-30s F overnight! So looks like fall is done and winter is on the way in. Yea....not.....
|
And diving right in....
Over the past few weeks, there have been quite a number of different 'site building' products that have launched, some of which I have purchased and/or recommended, others that I have stayed away from.
|
I have had a lot of questions about some of the ones that I have not purchased and how I decide which one to go for, so I thought I would address those questions here.
|
But first, let me say this:
If you cannot afford something right now - don't worry about it! Do not let FOMO get the better of you. To be honest, in our world products are like buses - if you miss this one, another one will be along soon enough. I have missed LOTS of launches over the years and wound up buying the product for a little more later. OK, LOL - sometimes a LOT more, but truthfully? It's ok. You should always make your purchase decision based on YOUR timetable, not someone else's.

Now, as to how I decide which of the site builders to buy - and which to avoid...
the first thing I look at is whether the product is self-hosted, meaning that I will own it, have full control over it, and host it on my own servers or if it includes 'free hosting' and a 'free' domain.
|
If you are new to this business - free hosting and a free domain might sound like a great deal - less money out of your pocket, right? But in reality, you have no control over the site, and you probably will simply have a subdomain on someone else's website. Your URL will probably look like https://mynewsite.notmysite.com, instead of https://mynewsite.com
If your long-term goal is to build a business you can sell (flip), you won't be able to do so because you do not actually own the site. You are basically just renting it.

So...as a GENERAL rule of thumb, I really prefer site builders that I host since my goal is usually to build a site, hold it for 6 months or so, and then flip it..so I am very partial towards WordPress plugins. I will use CB Site PRO to build out my affiliate sites and then fill them out with content, everything from PLR to self-written, to create a unique site to flip.

But sometimes it makes sense to invest in hosted products because I use them only to generate traffic to the sites I am going to sell. Traffic Beast and PLR Mojo
|
are site-building products that fall into this category.
|
There are several site builders out right now that create nice-looking affiliate sites, however, these are hosted, and so we can't sell the completed website. I don't use or recommend these because they don't fit in with my long-term plans.
|
Can you earn money from sites like these? Yes, but I do not want to just earn money today - I want to build assets for the long term, that I can sell for 25++ to 40++ x my monthly revenue ;-)

A little careful planning today can reap huge rewards in the not-too-distant future!

I don't usually go for any type of site builder that offers 'free hosting' because it means you cannot flip the site because you have no control over it - I like everything on MY servers and MY domains (control freak, much? YES!)
