Hi Everyone!
A bit of chill to the air today, so Iguess fall is not that far away. I always have mixed feelings about this time of the year: I love summer, my flowers and the warmth, but then fall brings pumpkin spice (don't like pumpkin pie that much but everything else? You betcha!) and Oktoberfests all over the place! Cincinnati is largely a German city and Zinzinnati Oktoberfest - this weekend! - is the largest in the US and 4th in the world!

And if you have never danced the Chicken Dance - while wearing a chicken hat? You have not lived LOL!! My chicken hat has zebra-striped wings, of course....

A Pricing Strategy I Will NEVER Use....
|

Pricing has been a hot topic lately, and understandably so, since we are dealing with a very volatile market right now: inflation, people heading back to work, or just being plain old burned out from the last couple of years.
|
But over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed more and more companies and services reverting back to the "Call for Demo" or "Apply Now" strategy of pricing. I have also seen a LOT of coaching & training programs going back to this approach.
My response?

If you can't post your price on your website, I am not wasting my time on a call with you.
|
Look, I have been in straight commission sales most of my adult life. My last salaried position was 1990, but I was even on commission before then. I KNOW the sales approach here and I don't like it.
Have you ever seen those high-end coaching programs with a 10-page application that asks everything from what your current sales are to what you have to "invest" in your business?
Put down the right numbers and a heavy-duty closer will be on the phone with you in 10 minutes or less. Put down the wrong numbers and your phone will have cobwebs on it before you hear from them.
Logic tells me that if you don't have the confidence to post your price for me to see, then it's probably more than you think your audience will pay. You need to SELL them rather than let them buy.

I have walked away from so many offers because of this practice - and in a couple of cases have had them reach out later with pricing that was actually affordable.
So why hide the pricing? Why take my and your valuable time for a call that does not need to happen?
It is not marketing at its best, folks!
